CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Your morning classes will focus on INDIVIDUAL LANGUAGE SKILLS.
  • INTENSIVE READING & VOCABULARY In this class, you will learn new vocabulary and you will quickly build your reading speed and comprehension. You will use "real" English materials, at your level, that were written for native speakers of English.

  • INTENSIVE WRITING AND GRAMMAR This class will teach you how to communicate clearly through written English. We will teach you useful grammar and effective writing techniques. This class also covers how to write good paragraphs, how to make a short essay, and how to write a research paper.

  • INTENSIVE LISTENING & NOTE-TAKING In this class, you will learn to understand spoken English. You will learn to recognize main points and details so that you can quickly and easily understand what you are hearing.

  • TOEFL IBT PREPARATION In this class, you will learn the format of the TOEFL iBT test, you will practice TOEFL iBT test questions, get test taking advice, and learn language skills that will improve your test results and your English overall. You can take an institutional TOEFL at our school every 6-weeks.

In your afternoon class English classes use a THEME-BASED, INTEGRATED SKILLS classroom style.

What does this mean?

"THEME-BASED" means there is an interesting topic or "theme" in your class. You will study English at the same time you learn about American life, American culture, and other interesting topics. Every 2 weeks, the theme will change. So you are able to study many different topics while you improve your English.

"INTEGRATED SKILLS" means you don't have a separate reading class, a separate speaking class, a separate writing class, etc. Instead, your classes cover all these skills together. Therefore, you will learn to communicate in the way you will need to communicate when you are outside of the classroom; by using Listening, Speaking, Pronunciation, Reading, Writing, Vocabulary and Grammar together to make yourself easily understood.
